Powerball Match 5 BONUS Winners Will Finally go on a Honeymoon MADISON—Lory and Jay Schabo, a lucky couple in Appleton, were shocked to find out they matched five numbers in last Wednesday night’s Powerball drawing to win $853,492. “At first we thought we won $100, and we were ecstatic with winning that much” said Lory Schabo. “But then we looked closer at the ticket and found we won even more!” The Schabo’s ticket matched the first five numbers but missed the Powerball in Wednesday's record $340 million jackpot drawing. The Wednesday's drawing marked the first time that the Match 5 BONUS took effect in Powerball, although the feature was added to the game in 2002. Under the BONUS system, when the Powerball jackpot reaches record territory, a new prize pool of money is created to give more people a chance to share in the big winnings. Jay Schabo purchased his ticket at the Northsider at 5208 N. Richmond in After filling up his vehicle, he went inside the store to purchase $5 worth of five quick-pick plays. “It was the last line of the ticket that won,” said Schabo. After taxes, the Schabo’s will take home $582,508.29. With the cash prize in hand, the married couple plan to take care of their children’s education and finally go on a honeymoon. But beyond that, they haven’t made any specific plans. |
