If hit in Wisconsin, how much would the winner take home after taxes?

If the $290 million annuity jackpot is hit in Wisconsin on Saturday night, the winner would take home after taxes $163.8 million.  If a person decides to take the cash value option of $141.9 million, after taxes they would take home $96.8 million.

Top Powerball Jackpots:

The highest Powerball Jackpots are as follows: $314.9 million won December 25, 2002; $295.7 million won July 29, 1998 and $294.6 million won August 25, 2001.

Play Responsibly:

With the jackpot climbing so high and many people playing for the first time, the Wisconsin Lottery would like to remind players to play responsibly.   A player’s chances of claiming the jackpot don’t significantly increase whether he or she spends $1 or $100. In fact, many of Wisconsin’s Powerball winners have spent $5 or less on their winning tickets.

How to play Powerball

Powerball is the multi-state lotto game that offers players nine ways to win. Players select five numbers from 1 to 55 and a Powerball, from 1 to 42. The jackpot is won by matching all five numbers plus the Powerball. Approximate odds of winning a cash prize are 1:36 and approximately 1:146,000,000 to win the jackpot.

Players can purchase tickets for Saturday night’s drawing until 9 p.m. on Saturday.
