MADISON, Wis. -- While most people go to the Piggly Wiggly on 158 N. Washington St. in Lancaster for groceries, one lucky shopper left with a winning $50,000 Powerball ticket for the May 6, 2026, drawing. The winning ticket matched four of five numbers (18-27-51-65-68) and the Powerball (5).
The win comes just one week after the April 29 Powerball drawing, which featured 91 winning tickets of $1 million or more purchased nationally, including six in Wisconsin.
The $50,000 winning ticket is the largest ever sold by Piggly Wiggly. Previously, the biggest winning tickets sold by the Lottery retailer were a $12,000 Badger 5 jackpot and a $30,000 scratch ticket winner.
The estimated Powerball jackpot for the Saturday, May 9 drawing is $47 million.
Wisconsin Lottery retailers who sell winning tickets over $599 receive a two-percent Retailer Performance Winning Ticket Incentive, up to $100,000.
Players have 180 days from the draw date to claim their winnings. Information on how to claim a prize is available at wilottery.com. Players can also see if their ticket is a winner by using the Lottery's mobile app, available at the App Store or Google Play.
Powerball drawings are Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 9:59 p.m. Tickets must be purchased before 9:00 p.m. to be included in a drawing. Powerball tickets are $2 per play, with the option to buy the Power Play feature for an additional $1.
The odds to win a $50,000 Powerball prize are 1:913,130 while the odds to win the jackpot are 1:292,201,338.
The odds to win a $1,000,000 Powerball prize are 1:11,688,054. With the $1 Power Play add-on option, the odds of a 2X multiplier being drawn for the April 29 drawing were 1:1.8.
The odds of winning the Badger 5 jackpot are 1:169,911.
