FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March is Problem Gambling Awareness Month

MADISON, Wis. -- The Wisconsin Lottery, in partnership with the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) and the Wisconsin Council on Problem Gambling (WCPG), is proud to participate in the Problem Gambling Awareness Month campaign. This year’s theme, “Caring Communities, Stronger Futures,” emphasizes the importance of a community-driven approach to problem gambling awareness and support.

Entering its 23rd year, the annual observance of Problem Gambling Month provides an essential platform for the Wisconsin Lottery to highlight the availability of resources that support problem gambling prevention, education, treatment, and recovery.

“A strong community isn’t one without challenges — it’s one that responds with empathy, innovation, and action. By standing together, we can effectively address gambling-related harm and shape a better tomorrow.” — Rose Blozinski, WCPG Executive Director.

Working with more than 3,600 Wisconsin Lottery retailers across the state, the Wisconsin Lottery's participation in Problem Gambling Awareness Month will include a multi-media campaign including:
• Lottoview (digital display) video messaging and poster placement at retailer locations
• Radio spots throughout the state and on the Wisconsin Lottery's YouTube channel
• Print ads in community publications
• Social media and Players Club newsletter content

The Lottery will also fund four scholarships for the WCPG's annual statewide conference. These scholarships provide conference registrations for people who might otherwise not be able to attend. This year’s conference is on March 19-20, 2026, at the Milwaukee Marriott in Waukesha.

Each layer of Wisconsin's strategy observes Problem Gambling Awareness Month and informs the public about the problem gambling helpline, text number, and the WCPG website. Help is available at 800-GAMBLE-5. Online chatting and texting (850-888-HOPE) are also available. Calling, online chatting, and texting is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
